Grayson Waller & Tony D’Angelo Segment
Tony D’Angelo: Listen, anything I got to say, I can say it face-to-face like a man, so get your ass out here, champ.
Grayson Waller: Hey, it’s about time, Tony. Coming back here, I always knew it was gonna end up being me and you. In fact, ever since I stepped foot in the PC, I knew it was gonna end up me and you. Little history lesson for you, ladies and gentlemen. Me and Tony D’Angelo, we got signed to the WWE at about the same time. We debuted on TV at about the same time. We were even teammates in WarGames. Remember Team 2.0, we got rid of Black and Gold. But every single time this was gonna happen, eventually someone got in the way, kind of like at Heatwave. Are you running from me, Tony?
Tony D’Angelo: Oh, I can see it, I can see it in your eyes, it’s eating at you. See, for all that bluster, deep down you don’t know if it would’ve been one-on-one, if you would be standing here with the NXT Championship.
Grayson Waller: Well, if we want to stay real, it didn’t matter the match at Heatwave, the result was gonna be the same. Yeah, you’re damn right. But I do kind of want the satisfaction of beating you one-on-one, because when I came back to NXT, I said I’m gonna win the NXT Title, I’m gonna be undeniable, and I did that kind of easily, but I also said that I had some demons from my past that I needed to conquer. And right now, at the top of that list is you.
Tony D’Angelo: Oh, I know. See, you always resented me. But when we first started, nobody knew who we were, but look at us now, big stars, right? But I’ve never liked you. See, you always looked down on me, because I was an athlete with some street smarts. But who were you, some indie god? Nobody even knew who you were. All you cared about were viral moments, instead of championships.
Grayson Waller: Well, I guess now I kind of care about both. But you were right about one thing, I did resent you, and the truth is, I still do. Because you were chosen. You didn’t even know what any of this was, and you debuted on TV before me. I had to hold your hand, take you upstairs, and show you a WarGames Match, because you didn’t know what it was. But you were allowed to stand right next to me, like you were on my team, like were on my level? It did not matter how talented I was on the mic, how talented I was in the ring, you were chosen. And that put a chip on my shoulder, and I’m glad that it’s still there, because that made me hungrier, it made me tougher, and that made me champion, lad.
Tony D’Angelo: You know why I still don’t like you? Because you’re a hypocrite. You walk around here, and you talk like you’re so big and bad. Oh, you got in the best shape of your life, good for you. You got a little meaner, it’s about time if I say so. But you’re still the guy who hides behind some smartass one liners or a meme on a sweatshirt, because you are desperate for attention. You’re just a troll.
Grayson Waller: What that is, Tony, it’s called having a personality, and I think you left yours in that old fedora hat you used to wear.
Tony D’Angelo: Yeah, yeah, that’s exactly what I’m talking about right there.
Grayson Waller: No, you see, Tony, I’m not a hypocrite, this is mental warfare. And the crazy thing about all this is you don’t even realize that I won this match mentally, months ago. I don’t need to poke and prod at you, you’re better than that, right? You’ve been through it all. All I have to do at Halloween Havoc is take you out in the deepest waters and let you drown yourself.
Tony D’Angelo: You can say that to the boys in the back, but you seem to forget, when we first started, they threw both of us out at the deep end. I was busy helping our team, our WarGames team to victory in my third match, third match. But you know what, none of that matters. But I like NXT, I like how it is. Look at how many future greats 2.0 produced. They’re all on Raw and SmackDown right now. Bron, Trick, Melo, Solo, the list goes on. But you know what, me and you, we’re foundation guys. Sure, our paths was a little different, but you know what, you take it all and you look at it, it all comes down to me and you, one-on-one.
Grayson Waller: Wow, Tony, what a beautiful story. And I know you consider yourself, Mr. NXT, you won all the championships, you were the face of the new era, Tony D’Angelo even beat Oba Femi, twice. Not even Brock Lesnar could do that, but none of that matters, because that doesn’t mean that you can touch me in this ring, especially in the run that I’m on right now. This title is starting to mean something again, and around my waist, this championship means more than when Bron had it, it means more than when Melo had it, and I promise you, Tony, this title means more than anything you’ve ever done.
Tony D’Angelo: You want to talk about prestige? Who the hell are you to tell me what title means? I carried it. I already cemented my legacy. You take away everything that I ever did in NXT, all of that, I am still a Division 1 All American, 250 pounds of man who will rip your head off and beat you with it. You want to cement your legacy? You want to keep that championship? At Halloween Havoc, I’m gonna drag you through hell. So, go get your trunks, and I’m gonna see if you can swim in deep waters when there’s a shark out there.
