– Emily Agard had a backstage interview with Kelani Jordan. Superstars from across NXT, Raw, SmackDown, TNA, EVOLVE and AAA will all compete in a Battle Royal to determine Kelani’s next challenger for NXT Halloween Havoc. How you would feel about that, Kelani asked. 20 desperate women are ready to prove that they belong in the same ring with The Standout of Women’s Professional Wrestling, Kelani Jordan. 20 women are trying to get her attention, but the thing is, Reina Volcan got her attention last week. It’s one thing to attack the champion from behind, but it’s another thing outlast 19 other women. Chantel Monroe joins the conversation. Chantel says that The Reflection of Perfection is going to prove that she’s one of one when she wins the battle royal, and go on to take Kelani’s title, which is so fitting for a show stopping diva like herself. Layla Diggs joins the conversation. Layla reminds Chantel that before she got injured, she earned a title opportunity and she never got, so this battle royal is personal for her. Layla tells Kelani that she’ll see on the other side of this battle royal. Kelani says that she’ll be the one making the moment at Halloween Havoc. Kelani wishes Chantel and Layla good luck and walks away.

Dion Lennox Promo

Hey, Cruz, I heard your story last week was powerful. I mean, I can see why so many people relate to you, it’s because you spoke from the heart. But there you go again, you act like you took the tough route, when all you did was take the easy one. You bailed yourself out of a situation that you put yourself in. You pumped your body full of toxins, probably the same ones your mama was selling. But you know what, me, I used my past to build this machine, a machine that never breaks down, can take hits and keep going, a machine that never, ever runs out of gas. I wasn’t dealt a better hand than you, I just chose to live a better life. My parents steered me on the right path, kept me focus, they gave me the tools to succeed, so I ran with it. But you think you’ve had it hard? Man, hell nah. Making the right decision every damn day is hard. Living up to expectations is hard, because if I slipped up, I wasn’t just failing myself, disappointing my family, my community, wasting an opportunity that only one percent of the one percent gets. You think there’s no pressure in that?

Regiment, structure, discipline, went to eat, sleep, train, practice, watch film, all of that was mapped out for me, day in and day out, that was my life. But yeah, there was times I wanted to party with my friends, you know, being a loser like you, but I didn’t. I saw the bigger picture, and that sacrifice helped me live out two dreams, and yet I’m not the one celebrated for always making the right decisions. And you’re a grown ass man being patted on the back, because you finally decided to, that’s exactly why there’s so many stories out there just like yours, and not many like mine. My story doesn’t bring people to tears like yours does. But you want to know something, here’s something that’s sad, Cruz. It took me two years to make it to NXT, it took you 20. You said your past is your superpower, Cruz, I hope that’s the truth, I really do for your sake, because you might’ve beaten your addiction, but you will never beat me. And after I do beat you, I’m gonna send your ass right back to that dark place, and then we’re all gonna see if you can pull yourself out of that hole again.

– We see Cruz Montana chatting with Lizzy Rain in the back. Cruz says that we’re going to see if Dion’s actions match his words. Lizzy has a huge opportunity tonight. Cruz remembers Lizzy killing it on the UK Scene, so go out there and show the world. Cruz gives Lizzy a fist bump as she walks away. Xia Brookside joins the conversation. Xia says that Cruz has really changed and leaves in disgust.

Grayson Waller, Myles Borne, Tony D’Angelo Segment

Grayson Waller: And still. I’m not surprised, last week was exactly what I wanted, exactly what I needed. The old Grayson Waller probably would’ve freak out when everything changed last minute, probably would’ve ran and hide, but I buried that brother with the boxing shorts and the Hawaiian shirts. It used to be about likes and swipes, now I fight for championships. And Rob Stone, I know you were fist pumping, thinking that you put me in an Open Challenge, like I was gonna freak out. No, lad, I loved it, that’s why I came back here. 20 minutes, fighting against whoever wanted it the most, whoever got in here first, and that was EK Prosper. EK, if I’m gonna stay real, for your first main event championship match, you crushed it. I left here feeling like I was in a fight, I was battered and bruised, you left here bleeding and feeling sorry for yourself. But EK, don’t feel too bad, because last week, you got a gift, The Grayson Waller Rub, you’re welcome. And one day, woah, you can’t afford that, lad. EK, one day, you’re gonna have this championship, but as long as it’s around my waist, there isn’t a man breathing in this locker room who could take it from me. When I came back here to NXT, I wanted to restore the prestige of this championship, back when the NXT Title was THE title in the WWE, back when every single NXT Title match mattered, that’s what I’m doing right now. But ladies and gentlemen, let’s get to the fun part, who is going to step up next?

Myles Borne: Not who you were expecting? I’m done doing what’s expected of me, I’m doing what’s best for me. You see, Myles Borne deserves to be a champion. And now that I don’t have that dead weight of Tavion dragging behind me, it’s time that I go after the one title that I haven’t held yet, that NXT Championship. You see, what I did to Tavion showed me exactly what I’m capable of, when I stop worrying about all of them, and only worrying about me. You see, I learned exactly what you did, Grayson, the only way to the top is to be selfish, ruthless, unbreakable. That’s exactly who I am now.

Grayson Waller: Myles, this is the kind of fire that I wanted to see, finally someone is listening to Grayson Waller, finally someone is paying attention to what I’m saying.

Tony D’Angelo: It’s not over, Grayson, not until I say so. Now, Myles, you picked the wrong time to grow a set, so you can take that new attitude and test it out on somebody else, because I got unfinished business here.

Grayson Waller: Woah, woah, Tony, you’re about a week late, lad. I didn’t see you trying to fight for the shot last week, where were you?

Tony D’Angelo: Listen, man, earlier you said, you’re not the same old 2.0 Waller, the guy that would bitch and moan about an open challenge, but deep down inside, you and I both know that’s a lie. Because if I would’ve came out here, you would’ve been screaming, Bloody Murder, giving every single excuse in the book as to how you’re not prepared.

Myles Borne: Tony, this is not about you right now.

Tony D’Angelo: Hey, Myles, I’m talking, thank you. So, I’m picking my spot, and when I put you through the mat, and take back the NXT Championship, there will be no room for excuses. And you talk about bringing prestige back to my title, my title, and I take it personally.

Grayson Waller: Your title? I don’t see a title. You know what, Tony, a few weeks ago, when Cruz Montana tried to snake my opportunity, you said to me, why don’t you two figure it out, which I think is a fantastic idea. Good idea, Tony. So, how about next week, you two figure it out, one-on-one, and whoever’s left gets The Grayson Waller Rub? Let’s find out who really wants it.

Myles drops Tony with a big right hand to close this segment.

– William Regal runs into EK Prosper in the back. Mr. Regal wants to know why EK is looking so down on himself? EK says that he stepped up to Grayson Waller last week, and he fumbled the ball. Regal disagrees, because EK competed with every bit of fighting spirit that he had, and he put his heart into that match. Regal has seen everybody come and go through these halls here at NXT, and EK has Raw/SmackDown Superstar written all over him, in fact he’s got World Championship material written all over him. Regal tells EK to never look down on himself, just keep fighting. EK shakes hands with Regal. Robert Stone appears. Stone tells Regal that they need to talk about Birthright, he’s scrambling to find replacements for Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux. Regal says that nobody knows the trials and tribulations in NXT more than him. He’s noticed that Stacks and Uriah Connors were eliminated in The Dusty Cup, but Charlie Dempsey and Lexis King can fill those spots. Stone says that he can’t reward bad behavior, especially with what they did to Zilla Fatu’s right hand. Regal says that, sometimes in this job, you just have to make quick decisions, and Regal doesn’t see how Stone has anybody else but Birthright. Stone reluctantly puts Charlie and Lexis into The Dusty Cup. Regal knows that Stone was the right man for the job.

Kendal Grey Therapy Session #3

Therapist: Kendal, we left off with the idea that working hard isn’t always enough, some things you can’t just control, how is that sitting with you?

Kendal Grey: I mean, it’s definitely not been easy. For example, the battle royal is tonight, and I should be in it. But the part that hurts the worst is, I realized that the only person I could blame for this injury is myself.

Therapist: What do you mean?

Kendal Grey: I mean, it started with The Underground. I wanted to beat Lola at her own game, but while doing that, I made a stupid mistake and got injured. And knowing that I wasn’t 100%, I still handed Kelani a contract for Heatwave. And the cherry on top, I was the one that exposed the metal post, so, yeah, it’s all my fault.

Therapist: Are you always this hard on yourself?

Kendal Grey: Yeah. I mean, I don’t really know how not to be. You see, I could do something right, 100 times, but all my brain thinks about is the one time that I do it wrong, and that’s what people don’t see. They see the matches, the wins, the losses, but they don’t see the person standing behind the laced boots. They don’t see me sitting alone, analyzing, obsessing over every little detail, every mistake. And somewhere along the way, I told myself, if I was hard enough on myself, then I will never have to feel that feeling again, the feeling of not being good enough. So, I beat myself to the punch before anyone could tell me that I wasn’t good enough or if I was making mistakes, I already told myself that. But when you live like that for a long time, you stop learning how to celebrate, you stop learning how to be proud of yourself. I’ve realized that my biggest opponent has always been myself.

Therapist: So, what does that tell you?

Kendal Grey: I mean, that’s going to be my biggest challenge, and that’s something I have to fix. And I know it’s not going to take overnight, and you know, I thought I was gonna hate these therapy sessions, but honestly, they’re not so bad.

Therapist: You know, you’re still figuring things out, figuring out who you are, and that’s okay. But you got to remember, there’s no finish line with this kind of thing. I’m always here if you need me, but I think for now, this is a good place for us to stop. You made you three visits for your referral. And I know you got your next medical evaluation coming up. So, regardless of how that goes, my door is always open.

Kendal Grey: Thank you.
