Nick Aldis: Ladies and gentlemen, as many of you know, Chelsea Green suffered a broken orbitual bone last week here on SmackDown. And after discussing with medical, I’ve reached a decision regarding her injury. So, without further ado, please welcome the WWE Women’s Champion, Chelsea Green. Look, there’s no easy way to say this. I know how hard you’ve worked, I know how much this means to you, and I know how much that moment at SummerSlam means to you. But Chelsea, I spoke to medical, and I could not in good conscious let you compete with a broken eye socket.

Chelsea Green: Stop. Don’t say it, please. Look, it’s already healing, I will do whatever it takes. Nick, please don’t say what I think you’re going to say.

Nick Aldis: Look, I hate this part of my job, okay? But it is my job. Chelsea, I’m so sorry, I need you to relinquish the WWE Women’s Championship.

Chelsea Green: I knew it was too good to be true. I knew when I climbed that ladder, and I took that title down, I was just waiting for that other shoe to drop, because every single time that something and magical happens to me in this business, it’s followed by something devastating. And that’s just my story, isn’t it? That’s just, Chelsea Green, the comic relief, the perfect opponent for the rest of the girls, never the champion, never the QB1. You know how much I sacrificed to be here. I had missed the weddings; I’ve missed the funerals. I have broken bones, I have left all my blood, sweat and tears in this ring. I’ve put my face through birthday cakes and pies. I threw my body into a dumpster. I had the whole world laugh in my face, Nick. But every night, when I got into bed, I told myself, it was all worth it, because this moment would come and now here we are. I made it. You should understand that, especially after SummerSlam.

Nick Aldis: Come on, don’t do this to me, that’s not the same thing.

Chelsea Green: It’s exactly the same thing. You went out there, and the entire world applauded you, with your wife and your son in this ring. And then I went out there, and together we proved that it doesn’t matter what they think about us, what matters is what we think about us. You were a Champion; your wife was a champion. Until someone takes this off of me, this is mine. I thought you of all people would understand that.

Chelsea hands Nick the WWE Women’s Championship and walks out of the ring.

Nick Aldis: Chelsea, wait. As Nick Aldis, The GM, I think I’m doing the right thing. As Nick Aldis, The Man, I don’t give a damn what medical says. I’m going to give you 30 days to get cleared, get a face mask, do whatever you have to do to defend this championship. And as far as I’m concerned, until someone takes this from you, this is yours.

Chelsea hugs Nick and poses with the WWE Women’s Championship. GUNTHER walks down to the ring.

GUNTHER: Well, enough, enough of that sob story, nobody wants to hear it. Let’s put all of our attention to actually important things in this company. And, Nick, I know Hunter has got you on the short leash, so let’s settle it professionally, but you answer to me now. Why did you pull that stunt on me at SummerSlam?

Nick Aldis: Look, this is not the time or the place. You want to discuss that? We can discuss it in my office, like men. But right now, I’m dealing with the Women’s Champion.

GUNTHER: You know what, Chelsea let’s be honest with each other here, okay? We’re talking about SummerSlam, what did you do at SummerSlam? You climbed up the ladder, grabbed the thing, the week later, you bump into a door frame, and then you’re out here crying about it? You know what I did at SummerSlam? I pulled double duty. I wrestled, I competed both nights, and the one night, I made a man tap out right in front of his family. Anyway, Nick, why did you add Kevin to my match?

Nick Aldis: You know what’s funny? I didn’t add Kevin to your match, I added you to Kevin’s match, that’s right. Yeah, you don’t know this, but we’ve been negotiating Kevin’s return at SummerSlam for months. You were the one who I did a favor for, you’re welcome for that, sorry you couldn’t get the job done.

Chelsea Green: Ooh, Nick, that was a good one.

GUNTHER: Hey, you know what, Chelsea, do me a favor, just shut up.

Chelsea Green: Okay, okay, okay, go puff your chest at woman, go ahead, have your cute little temper tantrum, stroke that tiny fragile little male ego. I mean, it’s really all you have after SummerSlam, isn’t it? I’m looking around this ring, and I only see one champion. Oh, that’s me.

Matt Cardona slides into the ring as Gunther starts walking towards Chelsea. Cardona tells Gunther to watch how he speaks to his wife. Cardona doesn’t have a problem with GUNTHER, but he will if he keeps disrespecting his wife.

GUNTHER: Ha, look at that, all the way from catering to the rescue. And let’s be honest, what are you going to do to me anyway? There’s nothing you could do to me. I could call your girl every slur in the world, right in front of you, and there’s nothing you could do to me. Look at that, like a dog that listen to its owner.

Cardona decks Gunther with a right hand. Cardona transitions into a ground and pound attack. Cardona kicks Gunther out of the ring. Gunther takes off his jacket and tells Nick to do something about this as the segment concludes.

First Match: GUNTHER vs. Matt Cardona w/Chelsea Green 

This impromptu match was made during the commercial break. Gunther kicks Cardona in the gut. Gunther applies a wrist lock. Gunther drops Cardona with two knife edge chops. Gunther poses for the crowd. Cardona ducks under a chop from Gunther. Cardona with forearm shivers. Cardona goes for The Broski Boot, but Gunther counters with two knife edge chops. Cardona fires back with forearm shivers. Cardona is choking Gunther with his knee. Gunther retreats to the outside. Cardona with The Wrecking Ball Dropkick. Gunther drives Cardona back first into the timekeeper’s barricade. Gunther with another chop. Gunther with a Belly to Back Suplex onto the timekeeper’s barricade.

Gunther PowerBombs Cardona on the announce table. Gunther delivers The Apron PowerBomb. Gunther resets the referee’s ten count. Gunther talks smack to Chelsea Green. Gunther starts gloating. Chelsea urges Cardona to get back into the ring. Gunther with The Ripcord Lariat. Gunther mocks Chelsea. Gunther with a Saito Suplex. Gunther continues to talk smack to Chelsea. Chelsea hops on the ring apron to distract the referee. Cardona delivers the low blow. Cardona hits The Rough Ryder for a two count. Cardona goes for another Rough Ryder, but Gunther counters with Two PowerBombs. Gunther makes Cardona tap out to The Boston Crab. After the match, The Irresistible Forces appear on the stage.

Nia Jax: Oh, Chelsea, not even a week in your title reign, and you’re already injured? Pathetic. Well, it sounds like you have a clicking tock. And since you want to be a fighting champion, why waste time? I got screwed out of SummerSlam. And you know what I want? I want the WWE Women’s Championship. And Chelsea, if you don’t give me what I want, well, let’s just say I have a history of breaking faces around here.

Tiffany Stratton storms into the ring to make the save. Stratton with forearm shivers. Lash Legend shoves Stratton across the ring. Legend applies The Bear Hug. Jax levels Stratton with The Body Avalanche. Jax HeadButts Stratton. Legend rocks Stratton with a forearm smash. Jax with a Running Leg Drop. The referees had to get The Irresistible Forces out of the ring.

Winner: GUNTHER via Submission 

– We got replay from last week’s main event of SmackDown, where Charlotte Flair defeated Jade Cargill with the assist from a returning Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley who was making her main roster debut.

– We see Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss walking in the back. Charlotte gives Alexa a big hug while saying that she missed her a lot. She thanks her for having her back last week. Alexa appreciated the sentiments; however, it’s Tatum who should be getting the credit. She’s proud of how nice Charlotte was to Tatum. Charlotte says that she was being nice in the moment. Alexa really likes Tatum, she reminds her a lot of herself. And because Charlotte loves Alexa, she’ll be nice about the surprise Tatum has for her. Alexa opens the door and Tatum is sitting in a room with candles and multiple photos of Charlotte and Alexa. This is a custom locker room she made. Charlotte is impressed by the collage. The locker room is very, very tiny.

– Coming out of the commercial break, we got a video package of the post SummerSlam confrontation with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.

– Cody Rhodes runs into Nick Aldis in the back. Cody says that he needs to settle this issue with Randy Orton before it gets out of hand. Cody tells Nick to make the match happen. Nick hasn’t seen Randy Orton in the building yet. Nick mentions that Sunday Night’s Main Event is right around the corner in Cody’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, perhaps the match can take place there. Cody doesn’t care when or where is going to be, just make it official. Cody turns around and sees Sami Zayn. Cody and Nick, the more things change, the more they stay the same according to Sami. Cody wants something and Nick is ready to move heaven and earth to make it happen. Let’s give the precious golden boy everything that he wants. Sami still wanted his rematch for the WWE Championship, but what did he had to do? He had to compete in a Number One Contenders Match, which turns into a 3-Way, then turns into a Fatal Four-Way, which he had to wrestle in with a broken hand. But if Cody wants a WWE Championship opportunity, apparently all he’s got to do is just say when, right? Here’s something that has changed, Sami used to be able to come up and run his mouth and Cody would allow it. Sami would filibuster and talk and talk and talk, and maybe it was because of their previous friendship, maybe it’s because Cody that he owed Sami something. Cody says that he doesn’t owe anybody a damn thing, especially Sami Zayn. So, enough is enough with his carpel tunnel cask he’s wearing. If Sami wants to do something about it, let’s do something about it. Sami wants to remind Cody of something, the last time that they were in a ring together, he did something that nobody in this company has been able to do, not Drew McIntyre, not CM Punk, not Roman Reigns, not Brock Lesnar. Sami pinned Cody in the middle of the ring, clean as a whistle, no funny business, no shenanigans, he pinned Cody in the middle of the ring and he did it for the WWE Championship. Cody asks Sami if he could do that again? Cody challenges Sami to a match tonight. Of course, Cody would want to challenge Sami to a match when he knows that he can’t go. Nick asks Sami, can’t or won’t? What if there was incentive, would Sami change his mind? If Sami beats Cody, he’ll get to face the winner of the CM Punk/Kevin Owens WWE Championship Match. Sami reminds Nick that he’s hurt. Nick is giving Sami the opportunity to make this choice, he decided to compete at SummerSlam. Nick wants Sami to reach out to him when he makes up his mind.

Second Match: Baron Corbin (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes For The WWE United States Championship

Hayes starts things off with a SomerSault Plancha before the bell rings. Hayes with rapid fire haymakers. Corbin shoves Hayes. The bell rings. Hayes ducks a clothesline from Corbin. Hayes dropkicks Corbin. Hayes with forearm shivers. Corbin launches Hayes to the corner. Hayes avoids the corner clothesline. Hayes unloads three knife edge chops. Hayes transitions into a corner mount. Hayes with a Step Up Enzuigiri. Hayes with The Springboard Clothesline for a one count. Hayes plays to the crowd. Hayes with a flying forearm smash. Corbin launches Hayes over the top rope. Hayes rocks Corbin with a forearm smash. Corbin catches Hayes in mid-air. Corbin goes for The Chokeslam, but Hayes lands back on his feet. Hayes sends Corbin tumbling to the floor. Hayes kicks Corbin in the chest. Hayes hits The Fade Away.

Hayes ducks a clothesline from Corbin. Corbin denies The First 48. Corbin PowerBombs Hayes. Corbin drops Hayes with The Big Boot. Corbin throws Hayes into the ringside barricade. Corbin drives Hayes face first into the steel ring post. Corbin launches Hayes into the timekeeper’s area. Corbin poses for the crowd. Hayes is lighting up Corbin’s chest on the outside. Corbin throws Hayes into the steel ring steps. Corbin talks smack to the Boston crowd. Hayes fires off another chop. Corbin answers with a forearm smash. Corbin stomps on Hayes chest. Corbin with a straight right hand. Corbin is choking Hayes with his boot. Hayes with heavy bodyshots. Corbin scores the elbow knockdown for a one count. Corbin hammers down on the back of Hayes neck. Corbin goes for The Lawn Dart, but Hayes lands back on his feet. Hayes side steps Corbin into the turnbuckles. Hayes kicks the left hamstring of Corbin. Hayes kicks Corbin in the face. Hayes drops Corbin with The Springboard DDT for a two count. Hayes with The Frog Splash for a two count. Hayes pops back on his feet. Corbin blocks The First 48. Corbin with a Big Boot that turns Hayes inside out. Hayes with The Sunset Flip for a two count. Hayes with a sharp knee strike. Corbin responds with Deep Six for a two count. Corbin goes for The End Of Days, but Hayes lands back on his feet. Hayes delivers Two First 48’s. Hayes prepares for Nothing But Net. Corbin sends Hayes crashing to the outside. Corbin rolls Hayes back into the ring. Corbin connects with The End Of Days to pickup the victory. After the match, Trick Williams music hits. Corbin tells Trick to bring it. Lil Yachty attacks Corbin with The Trick Stick. Corbin snatches The Trick Stick out of Yachty’s hand. Yachty retreats to the outside. Williams connects with The Trick Shot. Williams throws his jacket at Corbin.

Winner: Still WWE United States Champion, Baron Corbin via Pinfall 

– We see Chelsea Green talking to Tiffany Stratton in the Women’s Locker Room. Chelsea is very grateful that Tiffany had her back with The Irresistible Forces. The last thing Chelsea wanted is for Tiffany to be hurt before her title match. Tiffany said that she wasn’t going to leave Chelsea out there alone. And besides, she’s fine, and she’s still competing tonight. Chelsea asks Tiffany if she’s sure. Indeed, she is as she walks away.

CM Punk & Kevin Owens Segment 

CM Punk: Now, you’re a lot of things, Kevin Owens, but I don’t think you’re a coward. I’m pretty sure whatever you were about to say concerns me. So, why don’t you go ahead, give these people what they want, say it to my face. The floor is yours. Is it great to be alive on a Friday night in Boston, Massachusetts or what? What are you waiting for, come on?

Kevin Owens: You know, it’s pretty ironic that you come out here, talking about me saying things to your face, because last week, we were in this ring, a foot away from each other, and yet you chose to be all the way down there with your back turned to call me, what was it? A fat slob? Of course, the camera caught it, it’s not exactly the language you used, but it’s right around there.

CM Punk: So, wait, you think I won’t say that to your face?

Kevin Owens: No, no, I’m sure you would have no problem saying things to my face, because I mean, a lot of people don’t know this, but our story begins, really 20 years ago.

CM Punk: Alright, you want to educate the people as to why Kevin Owens doesn’t like me? Go right ahead, smarten them up.

Kevin Owens: Okay, see, 20 years ago, me and Phil wrestled for the same independent promotion, and he was the big top guy. I was just someone trying to make a name for myself, and on that night, you, of all the things you could’ve done, of all the ways you could’ve decided for things to go, you chose to berate me, insult me, and scream at me, in a locker room full of my peers.

CM Punk: 20 years, you’ve been holding onto this, this is what this is all about, 20 years?

Kevin Owens: It’s not all of that, see, I don’t like you for a lot of reasons, that’s one of them. But it’s also what’s happened in the last 20 years. The person you’ve been, the things you’ve said, the things you’ve done, the way you’ve treated people I care about, good friends of mine.

CM Punk: Oh, which ones? I think you’re gonna have to be a little bit more specific, I’m pretty sure your friends hate me.

Kevin Owens: Hey, you might think I’m talking about only three of them, but trust me, every friend I have in this industry hates you, because they see right through you.

CM Punk: Listen, being hated by losers is the price I pay for not being one of them.

Kevin Owens: And that’s another perfect example of why I despise you. You know, I see it back there, a locker room full of people that look up to you, and why, because you came back here, and you made amends, and you made everything okay? There’s one guy left that still doesn’t like you, and that’s me. And you know what, I’ll never like you. The reason being, that everything you do, everything you say, it’s performative. Hey, look at me while I’m talking to you. You are a phony. The only reason you came back here, and made everything right, was because you had no other choice, because the kind of person you are led you to screw things up everywhere else you went. You had no choice, and I don’t respect people like you. And while you were gone, regardless of what you think about me, I’m going to step back, your breath is a little bit rough. Regardless of what you think about me, I did pretty well for myself. 12 years, consistently in this ring before this injury, and what did I do? I main evented everywhere. I’ve won titles. I became Universal Champion. What else did I do? Oh, here’s a good one, something that you will never do, I main evented WrestleMania against Stone Cold Steve Austin.

CM Punk: You did. Man, you really did, didn’t you? Congratulations. I was happy for you then, I’m happy for you now.

Kevin Owens: That’s not true.

CM Punk: But you honestly think you would’ve been afforded those opportunities if I was still here, like I wouldn’t have been picked before you?

Kevin Owens: Clearly, you think that. So, tell me, tell everyone why, just do it finally, we’re face-to-face. Stand a foot away from me, and tell me why you think I wouldn’t have gotten those opportunities, because it’s the same thing you thought, 20 years ago, isn’t it? What am I, just some fat indie slob? A fan who’s on the wrong side of the guardrail? Just say it to my face.

CM Punk: Is that what I think of you or is that what you think of yourself? You said it earlier, I have no problem saying it your face, but I’m here on SmackDown, Friday night in Boston, Undisputed Champion of World Wrestling Entertainment. And I got a locker room full of guys that want to be champion. Hell, I’m calling out Oba Femi, and I get endometriosis instead. I look at you, and I see a lot of things, Kev. And you want to listen to me disparage you? You know, despite of all the great things that you’ve done in your career, I look at you, and I see a tough guy, I do, I legitimately do. I would be foolish to look past that and to take you lightly next week in Toronto. I look at you, and I see a guy that speaks two languages, I can barely speak one, so in my book, that makes you smarter than me. But then I also see a guy that avoids the work, who doesn’t try to be at least 1% better, every single day, and to me, man, that makes you stupid. I see wasted potential. I see a tough guy, but he’s a bum. You avoid the hard work. You say that I’m a shape shifter, when really the word you should be using is evolve. I’ve evolved, I adapt, I overcome, I want to be 1% better than I was the day before. Hell, if you would’ve done some of the work, even half of the work that I’ve done in my career, instead of avoiding that, maybe you would’ve been able to avoid that Bill Goldberg spear that ended the last time you had a championship belt around your waist.

Kevin Owens: You think I want to be more like you? No chance, I spent my entire career making sure I wouldn’t be anything like you, because you could see all of that in me, what you just said. What I see when I look at you is someone, who even though main evented WrestleMania, World Titles, all the money in the world, when you go home, I’m convinced, you look in the mirror, and you hate what you see. I don’t. I love who I am. I’ve always been the same guy. I am the same person you screamed at 20 years ago, and guess what? That fat indie loser is standing in the same ring with you, right now, and he’s facing you for the WWE Title next week. And you know what? Being like you probably wouldn’t have helped, because after all, you couldn’t avoid that Roman Reigns spear at WrestleMania.

CM Punk: I look at you, Kev, and I see myself from 20 years ago. I see somebody who’s stubborn, I see somebody who’s loud, I see somebody who’s always thinking he’s the smartest guy in the room, but I still see the same guy I saw 20 years ago.

Kevin Owens: Does that bother you, because I never cared what you thought of me, I never seek out your advice, seek out your guidance? Man, let me tell you something, I have regretted for 20 years not punching you in the mouth in that locker room.

CM Punk: There’s nothing between us, right now, but air and opportunity, Kev. Why don’t you do it now?

Kevin Owens: You know why I didn’t do it then?

CM Punk: I know why.

Kevin Owens: No, you don’t. It’s because if I did, I know you would’ve ruined my career, and that would’ve been it. And you know why I’m not gonna do it now? Because next week in Toronto, I don’t just get to punch you in the face, I waited 20 years, I can wait seven more days, and beat your bitch ass for the WWE Championship after I do it.

CM Punk: 20 years ago, you were a greenhorn who stepped into my locker room and thought you could get away with speaking to me disrespectfully. And you’ve been crying about the consequences for 20 years. You want to wait seven days? That’s fine by me. You never looked up to me, that’s fine by me, because in Toronto, that’s exactly what you’re going to do when I put your fat ass to sleep.

– We see Nick Aldis talking to Finn Balor in his office. Finn needed a week to decompress in Dublin. Finn didn’t mind that GUNTHER and Kevin Owens were inserted into his Number One Contenders Match at SummerSlam, but a little heads up would’ve been nice. Nick says that’s fair and he’s wrong for that. Finn says that it’s fine, it’s water under the bridge. Finn was about to explain why he came to SmackDown this week and then got cut off by GUNTHER. He doesn’t know why Nick made him wrestle in street clothes, did he really think that was going to change the outcome of his match with Matt Cardona? Gunther wants to sort out this SummerSlam issue he keeps crowing about. Speaking of interrupting, Gunther is interrupting Nick’s conversation with Finn Balor. Gunther doesn’t see Finn Balor, he’s a shadow of Finn Balor. Finn says that he’s getting tired of the way Gunther talks down to people and calls him a condescending prick. Gunther asks Finn what he’s going to do about it. Before Gunther barged into the office, Finn was about to tell Nick that he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get another title match. So, if that means going through Gunther, Finn will be really happy to beat his ass and show him who the real Finn Balor is. Gunther walks off in frustration.

Third Match: Damian Priest & R-Truth (c) vs. The MFT’s w/Haku vs. The War Raiders In A Triple Threat Match For The WWE Tag Team Championship

R-Truth, Tama Tonga and Erik will start things off. Priest, Talla and Ivar are tagged in. That leads us to a pier six brawl. Tama dumps Erik out of the ring. Erik rocks Tama with a forearm smash. War Raiders pulls Talla out of the ring. War Raiders and MFT’s continue to brawl on the outside. Priest wipes out everybody with The Springboard Crossbody Block. The MFT’s regains control of the match during the commercial break. Tama whips Truth across the ring. Truth holds onto the ropes. Truth dumps Tama out of the ring. Truth tags in Priest. Priest with a Spinning Roundhouse Kick from the ring apron. Priest is throwing haymakers at Erik. Erik reverses out of the irish whip from Priest. Priest drops Erik with a shoulder tackle. Priest ducks a clothesline from Ivar. Priest with a leaping back elbow smash. Priest with a Leaping Roundhouse Kick. Priest follows that with three leaping back elbow smashes. Priest SuperKicks Erik. Priest drops Ivar with The Flatliner. Priest tags in Ivar.

Ivar decks Priest with a back elbow smash. Ivar kicks Truth in the face. Double Forearm from Wepa Time. Wepa Time goes for The Double SuperPlex, but Talla counters with a Double PowerBomb. Ivar with a Flying Cannonball Senton. Erik goes for a Bodyslam, but Tama lands back on his feet. Tama with a waist lock go-behind. Erik delivers his combination offense. Tama HeadButts Erik. Fourth Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jacy Jayne w/Fatal Influence For The WWE Women’s United States Championship
