The G1 Climax Tournament consists of two blocks, each with 10 competitors who will square off against one another and earn points for each victory. Once the round-robin blocks are complete, the top point scorers will square off in the G1 Climax finals. Should current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi win the event, he would have the opportunity to choose his No. 1 contender as the current champion.

– Kota Ibushi has won the last two G1 Climax Tournaments. Will he win it for a historic third consecutive time? The road to Wrestle Kingdom 16 begins on September 18th.

BREAKING NEWS: Tetsuya Naito has been forced to withdraw from the G1 Climax due to a recent knee injury suffered on night one. Because of that, his remaining opponents in the A Block will receive two points. And those said performers will have special single matches for the remainder of the tour. Our thoughts go out to Naito and wish him a speedy recovery.
