The Velveteen Dream, Keith Lee, and The Undisputed Era Segment

Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae Segment

Johnny Gargano: September 16th, 2016, it’s a day I will never forget. The most beautiful woman in the world said I do and became Mrs. Candice Wrestling. My fairy tale life came true. Now a lot of people, they only get one fairy tale ending. Some get even less than that. But my entire career has been a fairy tale, becoming the first ever triple crown winner in NXT history. Who would have thought? No one, but I did. When NXT had people like Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kevin Owens, Ricochet. Who would have thought that Johnny Gargano would become the heart and soul of NXT? No one, but I did. And who thought that Johnny Gargano was always the better man over Tommaso Ciampa? No one.

Candice LeRae: But, we did.

Johnny Gargano: We did. Thank you. Looks great, looks great. We feel great because we are not living in a fairy tale, we are living in reality. The true fairly tale is NXT. You can play by the rules as much as you want, but let’s be honest. The NXT that I love has become a toxic wasteland, where the good people are taken advantage of. And the horrible people thrive, and are rewarded for it. The real fairy tale was believing that being a good person and being nice to everyone led to success. Media appearances, Johnny, can you do this? Yeah, no problem. Merchandise, Johnny, can you sign this? Yeah, no problem. Happy birthday messages for some stupid kid. Johnny, can you do this? Yeah, no problem. It’s a cookie cutter world where they take advantage of someone’s kindness. I’m tired of saying yes to everything while a dirt bag like Tommaso Ciampa gets what he doesn’t deserve. You know who deserves everything? Me, I’m sick and tired of waving the NXT Flag on top of a mountain of unappreciation.

Candice LeRae: Unappreciation. But Johnny, I hate to tell you but that’s just the NXT way, isn’t it? I mean, I’ve been unappreciated since I stepped foot in the place. Big sister to the entire woman’s locker room. I sacrificed for these women. I put them before myself. I ate second so they could all eat first. It’s the right way, the right way. When I needed anyone, where were you? Not there, nowhere to be found. And you know, I kept telling myself over and over, they’ll change. Candice, it’s okay. They’ll change, they’ll change, they’ll change. Some people call it insanity. And i’m doing the same thing over and over, and you expect different results, insanity. I’ve found it to be quite enlightening actually, cuz you know what? I’m not retaining second anymore.

Johnny Gargano: You made this beautiful dinner for the both of us in celebration, you deserve it. Eat first, take what you deserve. We are going to take what we deserve from now on. This isn’t a new attitude cuz we’ve known how this place works for a, long, long, long time.

Candice LeRae: Far too long. This whole time we’ve been the good soldiers and everybody walks all over us while all these horrible people got everything. Everything.

Johnny Gargano: Handed to them. We were given nothing. Table scraps. For a long time me and you decided we’re going to keep our personal and our professional life separate. Where did that get us? It got us nowhere. It got us hurt.

Candice LeRae: My gosh, so many times in the ambulance.

Johnny Gargano: People we thought we were friends with, we were stabbed in the back time and time again by people we trusted. You know who I trust?

Candice LeRae: Who do you trust?

Johnny Gargano: You. You know who you can trust?

Candice LeRae: Oh, let me guess, you?

Johnny Gargano: Yes, now, you’re right. We’re not doing things their way anymore, we tried that. We tried to fix NXT. There’s only one thing we can do now. We need to tear down NXT and rebuild it in our image, cuz it’s not just the Johnny Gargano way. It’s our way.

Candice LeRae: Ooh, I like that.

Johnny Gargano: I think the sun will shine in NXT again one day we make history as the first ever married couple to reign together as NXT Women’s Champion and NXT Champion. And we’ll rule this place.
