Cody Rhodes Promo

Double A, Arn Anderson. He was right when he said that the audience wants this match. Not too long ago, I came out here pompously, indignant and filled of the brim with my usual self righteousness. I asked MJF, what would it take? I asked him to name his price and he has. It’s rather expensive.

We see the full list of stipulations from MJF.

Let’s take a look at the bottom one. I will wrestle the stalwart, Wardlow, inside a steel cage. Now, I surmise the strategy here is that, a match that violent will extract a toll on my 34 year old body, it will soften me up, it will give MJF the best chance to win, but it surprises me. It surprises me because I’ve been in a number of tag teams, i’ve been in a faction, I know what it’s like when someone is trying to steal your pop, when someone tries to dampen your flame, they’re afraid of your star, burning brighter. I think Max is afraid that the audience might come to the conclusion after they see Wardlow take that suit off, after he speaks, after he debuts for AEW, that perhaps he shouldn’t be carrying MJF’s bags, perhaps MJF should be carrying his.

And we’ll go ahead and address the most controversial of these stipulations. I can’t believe I’m saying this out loud that I will take ten lashes on live TV. He wants to whip me. And I understand the symbolism of that farce, but if Max thinks that physical manifestation of my pain, if my skin breaks, if I bleed courtesy of a leather belt, that is the worst thing that could come from this rivalry between him and I? He’s mistaken. Let’s look at the last stipulation, I can not touch Max, until Revolution. I don’t need to touch you, MJF. I live rent free inside that head. You might as well consider my thumb pressing down and squeezing down on your brain because I know what you’re doing. I think everybody knows what you’re doing. You are stalling. MJF has wanted to be famous his entire life. He had a pageant mommy and daddy, who paraded him onto the Rosie O’Donald Show when he was seven years old. And finally, he found something that he was half way decent at, that being pro wrestling.

And he clings to this minute internet fame from these old timers and these veterans who bolsters him up and say that, MJF is a real true old-school heel. Less is more with MJF. But to steal a phrase from my friend, Kevin, you’re not old school, you’re lazy. Less is more because you are incapable of more. So, when it comes to your stipulations. The Steel Cage, I accept and I know the perfect place. When it comes to not touching you until Revolution, I accept. And when it comes to, ten lashes live on Dynamite, I accept. I know what it means to have this match at Revolution. It means I have failed as a mentor, but perhaps I can teach you one final lesson. A lesson that many men who have stood across from The Rhodes have learned. This is not your story. You’re simply a chapter in mine. At Revolution, I’m going to give you, your own god damn scar.
