John Cena Promo
You are a raucous group here tonight, what can I do? Today is my WWE Birthday. And as I look around, people as far as the eye can see, you can feel the energy and you can certainly hear the noise. I couldn’t think of a better place to have my birthday. 20 years of jorts. Well, nobody’s perfect, right? How old are you, young man? You look about six. According to that sign, I’ve been out of touch for 10 years longer than you’ve been alive. I have never been one to celebrate milestones, because I always love to look forward to what’s next. Tonight is different. It is very different. Because, if you listen to stuff like that, tonight has nothing to do with anything that I’ve ever done. Tonight has nothing to do with any moment. Tonight has nothing to do with any match. Tonight has everything to do with you. The 20th Anniversary is so very important to me because it means that you have allowed me to do this for two decades. It has never been lost on me that each and every single time I stand in this ring, it is because you allow it. Over the years, you have created an environment for me to be my true self. You have also been brave enough to tell me when I suck and you’ve also been kind enough to tell me when I don’t.
I’ve always wanted to say thank you. I guess I just been waiting for that right moment, and this, right now, feels like that right moment. My heart is beating out of my chest. I am filled with energy and excitement, and I need to say thank you to you for moments like those. I need to say thank you for making me who I am. I always say to anybody who will listen that WWE has prepared me for anything. When I say that, I need you to know that I’m not talking about something like Fast and The Furious or Peacemaker. When I say WWE has prepared me for anything, I mean, because of you and your reactions and your investment in me, you have made me a better human being. Because of you, I am a better professional. Because of you, I am a better husband. Because of you, I am a better person. Being in the WWE and spending moments with the families I spent today have taught me empathy, have taught me caring, have taught me kindness. You guys have surely taught me humility and you taught me perseverance. You have drilled into my head that every single time you step into this ring, you give nothing less than all you have, because every single time you come into the arena, you show up with everything you’ve got.
That’s what I’m talking about. This isn’t about a last name, it’s about people coming together. It’s been 20 years, and I’m 45 years old, but I only say that because I don’t know when you’re going to see me in the ring again. I’m not saying you won’t. I just don’t know when that’s going to be. I need to say this now. It ain’t just going to be one, don’t worry about it. I don’t know when that’s going to be, so I need to say this now. Anything I do outside of this is never just me, just like when you chant Cena, it’s not about me, it’s about us coming together. I’m asking you tonight, you have made me who I am today. Going forward, if you see something is good, say something. If you see something that sucks, say something, because this in ever ever been about me. This has always been about us. So, if you’re watching at home or you are under the same roof with me tonight in Laredo, I’ve been coming to Laredo for 20 years and we can get more out of Laredo tonight. Laredo, they are not just watching in all of the United States, they’re watching all over the world. Let’s show them what we are made of. That right there is the sound of us. We never give up. It is just getting started, and if you want some, come get some.
