NJPW G1 Climax 32 Reference Sheet

Hi everybody, it’s Joshie Lopez and I would like to welcome you guys to the NJPW G1 Climax 32 Reference Sheet. This will mark our six consecutive year covering The Annual NJPW G1 Climax Tournament right here on Pro Wrestling Transcriptions. It’s the best tournament in professional wrestling and we’re ready to give you the best match breakdowns in the business. There’s 20 events this year and with the continued celebration of New Japan’s 50th Anniversary, NJPW has brought the G1 to another level this year.

There’s 28 competitors separated in four blocks. The winners of each block will meet in the semi-finals of the G1. Don’t forget to subscribe to NJPW World and make sure to share our transcripts with every single G1 32 event, it would mean a lot to us. We want this to be the ultimate point of reference for you guys and girls.

As always, I’ll update the scoreboards and results on this particular article following each event. Let us know which matches you are looking forward to the most? And who you think is going to win the G1 Climax 32?

With the G1, anything can happen. The charm of the G1 is that upsets can come at anytime, there will be debts that have to be paid, chances for new rivalries, faction drama, performers making their first appearance in the G1 like Filthy Tom Lawlor, El Phantasmo, Aaron Henare, JONAH and David Finlay. This is the largest G1 field of all-time. The last time the G1 was separated into four blocks was 2000. The tournament will go from July 16-August 18th.

The G1 Climax Tournament this year consists of four blocks, each with 7 competitors who will square off against one another and earn points for each victory. And like I mentioned earlier, the winner of each block will meet in the semi-finals and the winner of those matches will meet in the finals at The Nippon Budokan. Should the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White win the event, he would have the opportunity to choose his No. 1 contender as the current champion.

G1 Climax 32 Stats & Nuggets (Credit to my guy Chris Samsa from SportOfProWrestling.com

– Hiroshi Tanahashi holds the record for the most victories in the G1 (91), entering the G1 for this 21st consecutive time, 3-Time G1 Champion.

– Tetsuya Naito was a finalist in 2011. Had to forfeit in last years G1 due to a serious knee injury he suffered in a match he had with Zack Sabre Jr. By the way, Naito and ZSJ are in the same block this year.

– Tama Tonga who was exiled by Bullet Club earlier this year will have his first chance to get his hands on Jay White.

– How will things play out with David Finlay and “Rock Hard” Juice Robinson? This will be their first meeting since Robinson joined The Bullet Club.

– Will Ospreay & Shingo Takagi had a legendary match in the Best Of The Super Juniors Tournament, their rivalry will be renewed as they are in the same block.

– Lance Archer from AEW will be returning to New Japan. The last time Archer was in the G1 was 2019.

– The NJPW Strong Brand will have nice representation in the G1 as Filthy Tom Lawlor, JONAH and David Finlay are participating in this years tournament .
