Michael Cole Interviews Lacey Evans

Michael Cole: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the classy, sassy, sexy, southern belle, Lacey Evans. Lacey, I want to talk about how this all started with Sasha and Bayley. You questioned their leadership. Why did you do that?

Lacey Evans: Because they’re bullies. I was tired of sitting back there and listening to the way they disrespect the women’s division. And I learn early on that you stand up, not being intimidated by bullies and that’s exactly what I did.

Michael Cole: Lacey, you and I talked at length about what has been a rough upbringing for you. Is that one of the reasons why you decided to challenge the so called bullies?

Lacey Evans: Well, I didn’t have the easiest upbringing growing up. My father suffered and worked so hard with addiction and depression. He lost that battle and it’s something that I deal with every single day. It’s something that I use with this platform and this company to show the entire world that, it does not matter the cards you were dealt, in your life you can stack that deck and play whatever game you set your mind too.

I am not done because that’s the hardest part about being in this position. I know what they’re doing. Knowing what the world is going through and knowing that I have a chance to set the proper example and show them that it does not matter what you’re going through, you can make it. I made it and there’s nothing that none of you can’t accomplish if you set your mind to it.

Michael Cole: So Lacey, is that one of the reasons that you joined the marines?

Lacey Evans: Absolutely, I needed to show myself a better life and it led me to WWE.

Michael Cole: You know, one of things about Bayley and Sasha that you have to put in your mind is when you question their leadership, if you do become champion, you’re gonna have to be a leader, yourself. What type of leader are you gonna be?

Lacey Evans: Well a leader that continues to inspire people and show them that it does not matter where you come from. It does not matter what the hell you been through, that if you keep pushing, you can accomplish your goals. And my goal is to like I said, use this platform and show the world, not what i’ve been through, but what I know so many of you are going through. I am going to continue to set that example and that’s what the world needs and i’m gonna be that champion.

Michael Cole: So, you’re setting an example as well for your daughter, Summer. Much like you, she’s a fighter. Lacey when you watch that again, what goes through your mind?

Lacey Evans: It makes me angry. I mean I’m proud that my daughter stood up to the bully. At moment, she was brave. But what a lot of people didn’t see was what happen backstage. When as a mother you have a seven year old daughter crying. And I have to explain to her that this is my job, this is what I do, she comes to every show to watch me and to support me. And they took advantage of that moment of getting in between me and my baby. And she’s asking me these questions, she’s even more worried about me than ever because of two bullies that stood between me and my daughter. Last week, I put Sasha Banks on the shelf. And come Sunday, I’m putting Bayley on the shelf.

Bayley attacks Evans from behind to close the segment.
