AJ Styles, John Cena, Kevin Owens and Rusev In-Ring Segment:
Battleground came a little early for AJ Styles at MSG. Styles never said he was the face of America, but he’s an upgrade from Kevin Owens. This is not about Kevin Owens. It’s about the United States Championship around his waist and what it represents. It wasn’t a long time ago that the US Champion would want to prove he was the best. That person called it the US Open Challenge. How about we bring that back ? Every time you see a man with this title around his waist, you will know that he’s the best. If there’s any WWE Superstars who disagrees, tonight is your lucky night. Tonight, you could come out here and prove him wrong. Right here, right now is AJ Styles US Open Challenge and it starts right now.
John Cena comes down to the ring. Cena just wanted to make sure that Styles realizes what he just said. Is Cena excluded from the Open Challenge? Styles says that the Challenge is especially open for Cena. Cena goes on to accept Styles challenge and he wants the match to happen right here, right now. The referee comes down to the ring. We have the formal introductions for the title match. Charles Robinson was about to ring the bell, but Kevin Owens appears on the ramp. Nobody wants to see another stupid AJ Styles versus John Cena match.
The only thing people should care about it’s the rightful owner, and that’s Kevin Owens. Why is John Cena back? Nobody misses him and we don’t need him here. Cena doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near his title. It’s not that Owens doesn’t want to see Cena, it’s because can’t see him. Owens is like everybody else who runs their mouth and wants them to leave. Cena calls Owens a Michelin man. Cena will run through Owens and Styles Rusev attacks Cena from behind. Owens plants Styles with the Pop Up PowerBomb. Rusev drops Cena with a Thrust Kick. Rusev gets Cena trapped in the Accolade.
