WWE NXT Results – July 5, 2017

First Match: SANITY (Killian Dain & Alexander Wolfe) vs. Kassius Ohno & Hideo Itami 

Ohno and Wolfe will start things off. Collar and elbow tie up. Ohno backs Wolfe into the corner. Wolfe lands a big right hand. Wolfe bounces Ohno’s head on the top turnbuckle. Wolfe goes for a Big Boot, but Ohno counters with a Bicycle Kick. Ohno tags in Itami. Itami is lighting up Wolfe’s chest with a series of buzzsaw kicks. Itami lands a snap mare. Itami connects with a knee drop. Itami with a boot to the jaw of Wolfe. Itami goes for a Tornado DDT, but Wolfe sends him to the ring apron. Itami kicks Dain. Wolfe whips Itami’s head off the top rope. Wolfe tags in Dain. Dain repeatedly stomps on the chest of Itami in the corner. Wolfe kicks Itami’s back. Wolfe stomps Itami’s head for a one count. SANITY is cutting the ring in half. Dain drops Itami with a Body Avalanche. Dain follows that with a splash for a one count. Dain lands a clubbing blow across the chest of Itami. Dain applies a face lock. Itami gets back to a vertical base.

Itami fights out of the face lock. Dain goes for a scoop slam, but Itami gets back on his feet. Ohno is distracted by Wolfe at the ringside area. Itami starts kicking the chest of Dain. Dain responds with a corner clothesline for a two count. Itami with a spinning back fist to Dain. Itami lands a series of clotheslines on Wolfe. Itami sends Wolfe knocking Dain off the ring apron. Itami plants Wolfe with a Fisherman’s Suplex for a two count. Ohno calls for the tag, but Itami ignores him. Itami connects with the Falcon Arrow for a one count as Dain breaks up the pin attempt with a senton splash to the back of Itami. Ohno drops Dain out of the ring with a Big Boot. Ohno and Itami starts arguing with each other. Wolfe with a Bicycle Kick that knocks Ohno off the ring apron. Itami drops Wolfe with a Running Basement DropKick. Dain makes a blind tag. Itami connects with the GTS. Dain lays out Itami with a Running Crossbody Block to pickup the victory.

Winner: SANITY (Killian Dain & Alexander Wolfe) via Pinfall 

– Ember Moon was asked about returning to NXT. Ember is looking at tape to get another title match.Ruby Riot stops by to ask Ember if she thinks she is the next one. Ember had her chance and Ruby hasn’t had hers. It’s Ruby’s time. Ember says the end result is Asuka. Anyone who wants to step on her warpath, she is willing to take them on.

– We see a recap video package about the Nikki Cross/Asuka Last Women’s Standing Match. 

– Drew McIntyre is in the backstage interview area. He’s asked about the title match tonight between Bobby Roode & Roderick Strong. It will be a fantastic match, but thee next time they have this conversation, they’ll be talking about his title match. You look at the former NXT champions, these men won the title and the world pointed at them. That’s why he decided to come to NXT He needs to be part of that lineage. McIntyre is asked about Killian Dain. He says it doesn’t matter if it’s Roderick Strong or Killian Dain, all roads lead to one destination, Drew McIntyre as NXT Champion.

– Johnny Gargano will be returning to NXT next week. Peyton Royce and Billie Kay were doing a interview in the Performance Center with Kayla Braxton, but they’re interrupted by the constant arguing between Thea Trinidad and Andrade Cien Almas. 

Second Match: Bobby Roode (c) vs. Roderick Strong for the WWE NXT Championship 

Roode and Strong goes into the collar and elbow tie up. Strong backs Roode into the corner. Roode applies a side headlock. Roode connects with a waist lock takedown. Roode grapples around Strong. Strong dropkicks Roode for a one count. Strong lands two knife edge chops in the corner. Strong ducks a right hand from Roode. Strong lands another dropkick for a one count. Strong tosses Roode back into the ring. Roode starts stomping on the chest of Strong. Strong leapfrogs over Roode. Strong connects with a Uranage Back Breaker for a two count. Roode rolls out of the ring. Strong lands another back breaker coming out of the commercial break for a two count. Strong is teeing off on Roode in the corner. Roode lands a big boot. Roode follows that with a Block Buster. Roode is lighting up Strong’s chest with knife edge chops. Roode kicks Strong in the gut. Roode goes for a vertical suplex, but Strong blocks it. Strong connects with his third Uranage Back Breaker of the match. Strong drops Roode with a Wrecking Ball Dropkick. Strong lands more knife edge chops on the outside. Strong’s leg is caught in the gap between the steps and ring post. Roode kicks the steps. Roode talks smack to Strong’s family. Roode continues to apply pressure to the knee of Strong.

Roode with a series of SlingShot Seated Splashes to the knee of Strong. Roode is mauling Strong in the corner. Roode tells Strong that he’s the champion. Roode goes for a Shin Breaker, but Strong blocks it. Roode again attacks the knee of Strong. Strong with a sunset flip for a two count. Roode connects with a running lariat. Roode is targeting the right foot of Strong. Strong is trying to get back to a vertical base. Strong lands a desperate kick to create separation. Strong with a drop toe hold that sends Roode face first to the middle turnbuckle. Strong and Roode are trading back and forth shots. Strong reverses out of the irish whips and connects with a leaping lariat. Strong lands a Big Boot. Strong connects with the Olympic Slam. Roode responds with a back elbow strike. Roode goes for a Flying Senton Splash, but Strong counters with a Back Breaker for a two count. Strong gets Roode in the Fireman’s Carry Position, but Roode gets back on his feet. Roode chop blocks Strong. Roode repeatedly drives his knee to the back of Strong’s leg. Strong rolls him over for a two count. Roode plants Strong with a Spine Buster for a two count. Roode goes for the Glorious DDT, but Strong counters with a nasty Gut Buster for a two count.

Roode wraps Strong’s leg around the steel ring post. Roode ascends to the top turnbuckle. Strong lands a leaping enziguri. Strong sends Roode back first into the top turnbuckle. Roode smartly rolls out of the ring. Strong sends Roode back into the ring. Strong goes for the cover, but Roode kicks out at two. Strong goes for a suplex, but his legs gives out. Strong almost drops the referee with a leaping knee strike. Roode plants Strong with the Glorious DDT for a two count. Roode continues to taunt Strong’s family. Strong drops Roode with a leaping knee strike in the corner. Strong plants Roode with a running face first slam. Strong connects with the End of HeartAche for a two count as Roode has his foot placed under the bottom rope. Strong thought he won the match. Roode knocks Strong off the ring apron. Roode connects with the Glorious DDT on the outside. Roode follows that with another Glorious DDT in the middle of the ring to pickup the victory.

Winner: Still WWE NXT Champion, Bobby Roode via Pinfall
