Daniel Bryan, Carmella and James Ellsworth In-Ring Segment:

Bryan asks the San Diego crowd if they are ready for a great night tonight? Bryan is proud of the Women’s Evolution on SmackDown and we have two huge Women’s matches in stored for tonight. Naomi will defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Lana. Then we’ll see, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Carmella, and Tamina in the second ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Carmella and James Ellsworth comes out to interrupt Bryan. This was the land of opportunity, but Carmella says it’s the land of injustice. Last week, she was unjustly stripped of her Money in the Bank contract. She won the match fair and square. The rulebook states that the match is no disqualification so there’s no rules. The first woman to gain possession of the contract wins the match. Ellsworth is not the first superstar to get involved in a ladder match. Seth Rolilns was not stripped of his contract. Sheamus was not stripped of his contract.

Carmella says that Bryan has no right to take that contract away from her. How can you break the rules if there are no rules? Just because Carmella is more intelligent than any other chick in the locker room, Bryan decides to dangle the briefcase over her head. Bryan says that Carmella has made valid points. Those matches are no disqualification and others have interfered. However, There’s never been someone that climbed the ladder, grabbed the contract and handed it to another. Bryan made his decision, but he wants to know from the people of San Diego if he should cancel the match and give the contract back to Carmella or should they have the match? Ellsworth says that everyone makes himm sick.

The WWE Universe are the villains here. You’re the ones who control this stupid puppet. Ellsworth has seen Bryan take pleasure in upsetting his home girl. Ellsworth calls Bryan pathetic. He used to look up to him. He used to see a man, but now he sees a gutless, spineless coward that has not grapefruits to cut it in the ring so he made up some hokey injury. Bryan probably should fire him, but tonight it’s not about Ellsworth, it’s about the real superstars. Bryan said on Talking Smack that he was going to ban James from ringside. He takes it back. Not only is Ellsworth banned from ringside, he’s banned from the entire arena. Bryan calls for security and they grab Ellsworth and carry him out of the ring. Ellsworth tries to run away, but he’s finally taken to the back. Bryan wishes Carmella luck tonight.

Randy Orton, Shane McMahon and Jinder Mahal In-Ring Promo:

Orton is not leaving the ring until he gets what he wants. He throws the chair out of the ring and he reminds us that he tore into the WWE Champion last week. Orton says that beatdown pales in comparison to what he’s going to do to Jinder if he doesn’t get what he wants and that’s a title match. Why does Orton deserve a rematch? If Orton doesn’t get what he wants, he’ll go into the back and find Jinder and beat the holy hell out of him. After the show, he’ll beat the holy hell out of him in the parking lot. Then he might bump into Jinder tomorrow at the airport. If that doesn’t do the job, next week, in whatever city they will be performing in, he’ll get to the arena early and beat the holy hell out of Jinder again. Orton starts walking out of the ring.  Shane McMahon comes down to the ring.  Shane reminds Orton about the history they have. Orton can’t threaten the safety of the WWE Champion.

Orton wants Shane to fire him so he can buy a ticket in every building and risk being arrested because Jinder disrespected him in front of his family. Shane can do the easy thing and give him a match or he can do the hard thing. The Singh Brothers crossed the line at Money in the Bank, but Orton has done similar things in the past.  Shane has never seen that look in Orton’s eye. Shane can empathize with Orton and grants him his rematch. Orton will face the WWE Champion at Battleground, but Jinder Mahal will get to choose the stipulation of the match.

Orton doesn’t care what the stipulation is because the title is coming home. Jinder Mahal comes out on the stage.  This is exactly what’s wrong with Smackdown, Management and The WWE Universe. Jinder questions Shane’s mindset for trusting a snake in Orton and granting him a title match he doesn’t deserve. Due to the prejudice and bias against him, he’ll announce a match made by a giant among men and his personal hero, the Great Khali. The name Battleground, it’s fitting because it will be Orton and Jinder locked in a Punjabi Prison Match.

– Daniel Bryan announces that there will be an Independence Day Battle Royal on next weeks SmackDown Live. The winner of that Battle Royal will take on Kevin Owens for the WWE United States Championship at WWE Battleground.
