POST MATCH COMMENTS
Zack Sabre Jr: I’m a changed boy. Alex Coughlin, by far the strongest wrestler. Alex, sweet boy, he’s the strong boy, but I’m the soy boy. That’s what I’m talking about, mate. That’s where all the power in the world can’t make up for technique. But, Finlay, I lost some ribs. Finlay, your new boys, they’re very good. They’re proper wrestlers, aren’t they? What you call them? Savages, but they’re proper. They’re also proper fucking idiots, aren’t they? They’ve got all that power and not a brain between them. These are my dogs, dick head, woof woof.
Mikey Nicholls: Whatever you say. Shit. I think to myself, what am I doing wrong? What am I doing differently? That, right there, is what I’m doing differently. See, I beat Henare. I taste my own blood and I could see it. It turned me into a monster. You know what? I’ve been too nice. So Mad Mikey Nicholls is not just a clever name, and now I’m not just mad, I’m fucking pissed off. They say that anger is a gift. Well, rest of the G1, Merry Fucking Christmas, because I’m giving you a gift that won’t ever stop going, won’t ever stop coming at you. I’m going to give you the gift of a damn defeat. Shit.
Tama Tonga: You know what you called today? Today, it’s momentum. I’ve got momentum. Two and one, that’s right, that’s two in a row, two wins in a row. Mikey, you’re a big son of a bitch, you know what they say? The bigger they are, the farther they fall. And anybody and anybody, really, I mean everybody falls to The GunStun. Hey, I got the strongest GunStun in the game. Better than anybody you see out there. You name them, I’ve better than them. You call it, I’m better. It doesn’t matter who it is because I am better and that’s all that matters. Listen, the fact of the matter is, I’m the best. Some of y’all don’t like to admit it, but I am the greatest that New Japan has ever seen. I’m like a diamond in a rough and it’s been a rough for a very long time for me, but you all can clearly see what is coming out. I am the best. And every match from here on out, shit, every match that I’ve been in for the past few years I’ve been proving that.
My ascension in New Japan has been undeniable. Ever since I cut off that dick weight known as Bullet Club, I’ve been on a rocket ship. Call it what you want, all right. There’s not anybody like me. I’m the most versatile player here in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Shit, I’m better than anybody there in AEW. My gosh, man, I can do it. Look, this coming Wednesday, oh, Finlay, you big ball wannabe son of a bitch. Look at you, you got your little gang. Little amateurs coming out thinking that they’re bad war dogs. Oh, shit, you know what we do in Tonga? We eat dogs. That’s right, we shave them up, we cook them up and we eat dogs. That’s what Tongan’s do. Yeah, so your little puppies ain’t nothing to me. Finlay, what, you did to me Finlay, two months ago, I didn’t forget. Yes, I didn’t forget one bit. I’ve been pissed off. This right here has been brewing up. I’ve been waiting to come. And, Wednesday, Finlay, it’s time to pay the bill.
Hirooki Goto: I’m in trouble. This is the G1 we’re talking about.
Aaron Henare: Can you believe it? I gotta watch the videos again. There’s no way some punk from New York can knock me out. Hey, did you watch? He knockout too or just me? Yeah I thought so. Eddie, I gotta give it to you, you know, when they told me you’re from the Bronx, I thought you were just like all these other American wrestlers, talking shit about where you’re from, but none of them have been through the struggles that you and I have been through. Today, you proved to me that you’re one tough son of a bitch.
I don’t want to be a coward and say it was a lucky shot because it was not. I remember, 10 unguarded shots that you gave me, Eddie. And I knew that this motherfucker was for real. But I bet my whole G1 pay, all of it, all of the bonuses, all the t-shirts, I bet you Eddie, I bet on the names of my ancestors that you will not be able to do that to me again. I had your number the majority of the match. You just proved that all it takes is just one shot. Look at all the sweat on this sacred face. Your fist, right here. Keep watching your back when you’re walking. You just pissed off an enemy that you don’t want.
Eddie Kingston: I’ve never been hit like that in my entire life. And I’ve been in this business for 21 years. I’m tired of getting lucky. I feel like my two wins are luck. I can’t think about that right now. I gotta ice my jaw. Oh, the headbutt. And then I gotta get ready for Holy Ground which is Korakuen Hall against you, Ishii. We are one and one. I beat you, you beat me. But this is the G1, this win will double for me, especially at the Holy Grounds of Korakuen Hall. I’ll see you then, brother.
Toru Yano: Seriously? Not again. He’s stealing my damn bit. What a day.
Tetsuya Naito: I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find Yano’s world interesting. Of course, some guys make you wonder if they’re truly G1 Climax worthy. But that weird, twisted world of Toru Yano, I had a lot of fun visiting. I now have two wins and one loss in the D Block. Next up is Shane Haste in Korakuen Hall on Wednesday. There are wrestlers who I wonder why exactly they were invited to this G1. Shane Haste is one of them. Sorry to say, he’s on that list. But because he’s here, I’m sure he’s determined to make a huge impact in this league. I’m not gonna let up. I’m coming for my third win. So with that, I’ll see you guys again at Korakuen Hall on the 26th. Adios.
Shingo Takagi: I’ve finally got a win under my belt. With the format this year, every win is huge. Old Man Ishii is seven years my senior. But damn, he’s an unbelievable as ever. I said the other day that I wanted to be the most energetic over 40 wrestler in the world. But I think Ishii might even have me beat at the moment. Today reminded me of Yokohama four years ago. Won the battle, but maybe not the war. I’ve still got a hell of a lot of work to do. I said this to Ishii after the match. It doesn’t matter when or where we fight, whether it’s the G1 Climax match, a title match, I will fight Tomohiro Ishii anytime, anywhere.
Even if we’re in the middle of nowhere. Even if there are only 100 people in a crowd. I’ll fight that damn guy anytime. Again and again until I surpass him. That was a big win, but my record is still not good enough. One win, two losses won’t do. But today’s match reminded me of what makes me, me. I’m gonna fight as fiercely and intensely as only Shingo Takagi can. Naito’s match was also some good inspiration. Naito claims to be the master of the comeback. And I’m gonna show you all what kind of comeback Shingo Takagi is capable of, too. I’m gonna show you exactly what I’m made of.
Hiroshi Tanahashi: Another loss. But this is where things start to get really interesting. I’m gonna pull a rabbit of the hat. These remaining matches are gonna be a real test of my nerves. I’m not giving up here. I’m no quitter. My summer isn’t over yet. All the fans who have believed in me all the way, I’m not going to let them down.
Jeff Cobb: First and foremost, Tanahashi, I give you all the credit in the world. You know what? If I had a stamp, if I had a hunko with this on it, boom, I would put one right on by your name. The sweet little golden star, maybe he scratches the snicker. Tanahashi, thank you, thank you. Respect, that is the word for tonight. Not redemption, respect. I have respect for you Tanahashi. You carried this company through some dark times and I appreciate all the hard work and all the pain that you put on your body. But it’s okay to step aside and let the United Empire carry some of that load. It’s okay for you to step aside and let Jeff Cobb carry some of that load, because if you haven’t noticed out there tonight, there were a ton of United Empire t-shirts. There was a ton of Jeff Cobb t-shirts. There’s a lot of Jeff Cobb foam fingers that you can buy at the merch table anytime I’m on the show. Hell, anytime I’m not on the show from NewJapanWorld.com or maybe I don’t know, New Japan 1972.
It doesn’t matter. Tanahashi, I’m done with you, boom, no disrespect, but on to the next. And that’s you, Zack Sabre Jr. See, I haven’t forgotten what happened in Osaka. I haven’t forgotten what happened in Fukuoka. No, no, no, I haven’t forgotten The Road To Dontaku. You see, Zack, today’s word was respect. At Korakuen Hall, when we main event, the word for the night is redemption. That’s what I need, I need redemption. I can smell redemption, I can write redemption. I can write it in Kanji. I can write it in Katakana, squiggles, whatever you want. Morse Code: Redemption. See Zack, you, my friend, you’ve awakened a sleeping giant, you’ve awakened Ichiban Kaiju. I said this before and I’ll say it again, Redemption starts in Sapporo and it ends in Ryugoku. And it makes a quick pit stop in Korakuen Hall. Zackary, Re-Demp-Tion.
David Finlay: I told you guys, I don’t struggle. Look, all these side factions and splinter groups, shows you how much turmoil I inherited when I took over The Bullet Club. It also shows you how much people want to hang to The Bullet Club name. But nobody has done more for The Bullet Club name in such a short amount of time than me. Other leaders, past leaders, they use The Club to further their own careers, selfishly. What have I done? I’ve elevated everyone that I’ve brought in. Drilling Maloney. Alex Coughlin. Gabe Kidd. Clark Connors. Look at where they are now because of me. And here I am, leading the G1 Climax, undefeated.
It’s funny, it’s about time people start believing what I say now. Everybody wants to know about Bullet Club. Everybody wants to know where EVIL lie. Where does House Of Torture lie. I will say this, keep your friends close, and keep your enemies closer. Gedo, who do I have next? Tama next? Do you remember what happened the last time I fought Tama? He got stretchered out of the building and I went home with this. And since then, nobody has been able to touch me. So, Tama, your G1 ends Wednesday night at Korakuen Hall. And I put another tick on my record. And I will go undefeated. I will clean sweep this entire tournament. You are looking at this year’s G1 Climax Champion.
