POST MATCH COMMENTS

Tanga Loa: Yoshi Hashi, thank you for this match. But I don’t even know what happened. All I remember is getting superkicked in the beginning of the match and I didn’t even know what happened. That happened and then I’m walking back here and the young boy is telling me that I lost. It’s okay, I have fun. Thank you, Yoshi Hashi. I appreciate it very much.

Yoshi Hashi: No matter how bad you get your ass kicked, it’s all about perseverance. Have to keep going when the going gets tough. It was important for me to figure out what I had. And in the end, I got it done when it mattered. The wrestler who pulls out a result when the chips are down have true strength. Tanga Loa is super strong. There’s a power gap, for sure. But I’m the one who got the win. And at Korakuen Hall, I’ve got Okada. He’s a guy with skills beyond belief. I know that more than anyone. Last time I fought him at Korakuen Hall, he beat me. But next time is gonna be different. Time for Yoshi Hashi to beat Okada.

Ren Narita: This guy can’t do anything without restoring to that trash. Even still, a loss a damn loss.

Gabriel Kidd: Come on, man. Certified Century, you already knew what I’m on. Listen, you really think that guy was gonna beat me? I used to beat the shit out of him at the LA Dojo. I used to beat him up like a drum. Listen, I’m gonna be honest, I like Ren Narita. In fact, you know what, I love Ren Narita, bro. I love Ren Narita like my bitch. But I’ll tell you what, you ain’t going to get far in this business if you keep impersonating our coach. What did me, Clark and Alex do? Went off and made a name for ourselves in our own way.

I called you Fake Shibata, but I might as well call you the next Tiger Mask because you’re going to through your whole career living in somebody else’s personality. Narita, you want to be sitting at home with your grandkids, talking about who you were and they’re going to say, grandpa was going to be the next Shibata. Go away, find yourself, that’s what excursion is for. And then you just became the next Shibata. Go away, find who you are, holler at me because I’m ready for round two. That shit fired me up. Who’s next? Shota? I just put out Fake Shibata, now I have to put out Fake Tanahashi/Fake Naito. It’s karma, man. I’m built for this. 14 years in the game, I ain’t even started yet.

El Phantasmo: This isn’t gonna be easy. We all know, you may think you know how hard the G1 Climax really is on you. I mean, you can look up and down the blocks and everybody’s got some sort of injury. My traps hurt. People’s necks are fucked, their legs, their knees. And that’s fine, that’s what we expected. But what you guys don’t realize is how hard emotionally it can be when you’re all by yourself, when you have no friends, you get a call from your dad that says your papa has passed away an hour before you’re gonna go out there and wrestle Okada in the main event. And you try and block those emotions and go do your job.

And then you finish, and the adrenaline wears off and you go back to your little, tiny dinky ass Japanese Hotel, and then you realize that it’s too late to call your grandma, who’s husband of 70 years just died. Whose daughter died a year ago. And you’ve got to stay up all night by yourself. Unable to tell them how much you love them. And then in the morning, you call Grandma and you talk about how Papa’s gone and that’s okay. But then you have to lie to her, you have to tell her that you’re doing good. You can’t say that you’ve lost three matches. You have zero points at the bottom of the block. You got to tell her that you’re winning and you’re fighting for Papa. When go to the gym by yourself, you listen to music and you come here and pretend like everything’s okay, but it’s not. But that’s what this job is.

I was here all pandemic when my aunt died. Hearing my papa died. And I don’t know how much the people know. But when you guys chant my name, that’s the only love I get around here these days. And it means so much to me. You guys don’t know. You guys don’t know, just three little letters keeps me going. But I told myself I wouldn’t be sad. My Papa was 91 years old. He was supposed to die a month ago, that’s why I was at the hospital and I couldn’t do Wrestling Revolver. He was supposed to die, but he kept fighting. Not one week, not two weeks, not three weeks, he fought four weeks past the time he was supposed to ass away. And that, that’s fighting spirit and that’s the fighting spirit that I need. That’s the fighting spirit that I need to win matches, to win the G1 Climax. Tell my grandma that I am okay.

Hikuleo: Okay. Okay.

Chase Owens: Hikuleo, I see that your father, your father, he may have taught you a lot, but he didn’t teach you everything. No, no, no, no, because you see, up and down the roads, Tracy Smothers, Bobby Eaton, Ricky Morton, some of the best professional wrestlers in the world, you’ll learn a thing or two. And after 18 years, 18 years, 9 years in New Japan Pro Wrestling, I’m not here for no reason. You see, everybody can complain all they want, but you’ve got a long, long time to put up with me. Hikuleo, each and every time you step into the ring with Chase Owens, that’s gonna be the result and that is too sweet.

KENTA: Why the hell are you here, fatty? Of all days, how could you. Wait a minute, did you seriously believe me when I said you might be my good luck charm? Gross. You’re like a creepy ex. You’ve gotta be kidding me. Like I wanted you to be here. You’re seriously here? Come on. I can’t believe you’re here. That was clearly a joke. I make one joke, and suddenly you’re coming here like you’re my savior. Damn, you’re gross. Seriously. Come on. You’d better not be here next time. My next match. Taichi. He’s a YouTuber, right? Pretty famous YouTuber. YouTube’s got that thing, right? That thing. What is it, a tip?

Like, a donation. That system where the people that watch give you money. You seen that? Of course, you have. Pretty sweet deal, though, right? Now look at me. I do my best to run my mouth back here, completely beat up, and what do I get? Nothing. Come on, give me a tip. NJPW World, I’m waiting for you. Give me my damn donations. But don’t take it the wrong way. That’s not why I do this. Don’t you dare show your face next time. I gotta get a win. If I lose and that bastard does another stream, the donations, they’ll be through the roof. I’ve been getting my ass kicked and talking all this time, and not a single yen in tips. Not a single cent. Come on, man. Not that I needed the money. And don’t come back. Anyway, what I came here to say was, I want my damn tips.

Will Ospreay: I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve a beating from Kenta like that, fuck me. I was gonna ask him a bunch of questions about NOAH. What was his favorite GHC Junior Heavyweight Title Run? So many questions I could ask Kenta. The next question I got for Kenta is, does that make me the number one contender for the Defy World Championship? If so, I have much questions. Number one, who is the nicest guy in WWE? Number two, why didn’t you go back to NOAH? Why did you come to New Japan? Number three, when you go back to NOAH, anyone you know who you’re good friends with? Number four, Bullet Club royalties that good? Too many members, I think the royalties would be bad.

I always enjoy getting in the ring with Kenta. I actually remember watching Kenta when I was a kid. The first Japanese match I saw was him vs Kanemaru. Anyway, two more points in the block. Next is my good friend, The Great O-Khan. The most handsome man in New Japan. Although we’re on the same side, points are on the line. So I ask you, please give me everything, everything because it’s gonna be a hard battle. Speaking of NOAH, I haven’t addressed September, the 25th Anniversary of Marifuji. I will be traveling to York to go challenge my inspiration, my idol. Marifuji, I look forward to the battle. But please bear with me, Ospreay has a very busy schedule and it involves winning the G1 Climax. Thank you very much.

Kaito Kiyomiya: Damn it. Too close to a loss. Damn it. Come on. I’m not done yet. I’m not gong to let this slide. I’m going to make up for this. From here on, everything is going to change. I can’t believe I dropped points here. Just as frustrating as a loss. But I’m not gonna let it affect me. Time to refocus. Sanada, I’m coming for you.

Shota Umino: I’ve just made one more rival that I absolutely cannot lose to. You’re not even paying attention to what I’m doing? That’s a damn lie. Ten more seconds, and I just might have beaten you. This G1 Climax, just one match, just one victory, they’re all hard to reach. I guess winning three, four, five matches is harder than I even imagined. The G1 Climax is not that forgiving. But I’ll be damned if I’m gonna give up here. I’m gonna make up for this.

It’s not gonna end here. One loss, two points, I’m not gonna let it end here. I’m not gonna let my first G1 Climax end like this. I’ve said it time and time again. I’m gonna create a paradigm shift in NJPW. I’m gonna lead the new generation. Kiyomiya, whether it’s in NOAH or NJPW, I’m gonna be fighting you for the next twenty years. I can’t lose to you. You’ve just made a rival for life.

Taichi: Well, what’s done is done. I can only move on to the next one. Today, I believed I did my wrestling the right way. That’s all there is to it. Today is over, so I’m just going to focus on the next one and do the best I can. Okada, as I said earlier in the ring, this is the title you created. Why don’t get a taste of it? At least once, well, not right now. I know you have a lot on your plate. Maybe someday you’ll get around to it. Just keep that in the back of your mind. It doesn’t have to be right now. Just don’t forget that this is a legit belt now. Next time will be different. Next time, with my brand of wrestling, I’ll win the day.

Kazuchika Okada: That bastard’s awesome. He proved why he’s carrying KOPW. I see that all the trials and tribulations that come with KOPW have only made you stronger. But this isn’t KOPW. I like to win with my brand of authentic wrestling. But I was the man who dreamed up KOPW, you brought up in the ring, Taichi, but I’m a busy man. I will win G1 and move on to what’s next. This hot G1 summer has already been fulfilling. But I can’t wait to get onto the next one.

Yota Tsuji: Well, what do you think? 3 matches in, still no wins. Umino said I’ve got a big mouth. Now I’m starting to wonder. Well, it’s fun to beat up on the guy who speaks his mind, right? Then, have at it. But know this, G1 is far from over. We’re not even halfway done. I’m a man with nothing to lose. This G1 is mine for the taking. I’ll show you how determined I am in Korakuen Hall on July 25.

Sanada: Funny. It really is. In Tokyo, they sometimes say people from these towns aren’t up for it. But these people in Nagaoka, Niigata, the power they gave today is world class. That kind of power is truly a gift to me. Tsuji has grown into something. Big things are in his future. I’m going undefeated in this G1. And like I said, I’ll come back here and defend this title.
